Rocket Arena Demo Problem

I've got demos for an older version of RA3. Obviously they don't work with seismo, so i installed older versions of RA3, i think i recorded them in 1.6 or 1.65. Anyway i made an arena_old dir and tried both versions, both returned no joy. Basically quake loads up, does the white screen thing, then quits back to menu. I've got other ra3 demos to work, but i'm presuming they were made in 1.7. The demos that i'm trying to get to work, used to work, but aren't now, so....what's going on eh? Any help would be appreciated.

oh i tried other mods, like CPMA and stuff BTW, but still no joy.

head over to http://www.ra3planet.com and grab the latest beta 1.75 client ... it includes a fix to play old demo's ...

i'm not sure if it's well documented in the readme allready, but it will be when the final 1.75 is out.

Something that's not in the changelog:
cg_demoVersionOverride.. set it to "1.5 0" for 1.5 and "1.6 5" for 1.65, "1.7 0" for 1.7 and so on! This will allow you to watch old demos.

addition:

the old demos might not play correcty, if you want to make sure they play like they were recorded u should use the client version the demos were recorded with.

To seismovision dev: maybe you can add autodetection for ra3 demo version and include a patch that sets the client cvar to the corrosponding value before starting to play the demo :))

Why not? I even have this spiffy tool you could use with output like this:

I could even make you a quick customization that's easier to parse :>
